Truth, Lies or Dare?
by Guest Writer Kim Dietrich, kimdietrich.ca
In a recent episode of her Creating Abundance with Ease radio show Dr. Helen Gitlevich contemplated memories of childhood games to explore the energy around truth, dares and lies. With an ever-playful energy, she asked us to consider what we could create by stepping back from the drama of lies and dares? What if instead we started living in the truth of who we really are?
What is Truth?
Truth, Helen points out, is in the eye of the beholder. To illustrate, she relates the ancient story of three blind sages who visit an elephant – each laying hands on a different part of its anatomy and reporting their findings. One claims the animal is a snake, one describes a column, and the third likens the mighty beast to a wall. In fact, each sage’s opinion is both true and untrue. In light of the subjective nature of truth, Helen asks us to consider how our own judgements hold us back from seeing what is right in front of us.
In order to find the truth and move past our judgements, we can go into our bodies. The easiest way to know if something is truth or false is to consider the way it feels. What is true feels light while a lie feels heavy. If you have trouble distinguishing the difference, Helen suggests thinking of the lightness you’d feel if you were a newborn, or the feeling you get relaxing in nature. Compare this to how you feel when someone lies to you – that heavy feeling of betrayal. Whenever you’re faced with wondering if you’re being lied to, or what the truth of a situation is, ask yourself what the energy is. When you do encounter the heaviness of lies in your life, the clearing statements of Access Consciousness can be a positive tool for clearing that negative energy.
Letting Go of Lies & Judgements
Helen suggests considering your own judgements of others: ask yourself if they are true. When you stand in judgment about the people in your life, you cut yourself off from seeing beyond those conclusions. If you can let your judgements go, and clear their energy with Access Consciousness clearing statements, you can create more. Letting go of your points of view can move you into a place of allowance. Stepping past lies and judgements can help you create greater joy and ease for yourself.
Choosing Truth Over Lies
Helen relates her own history of having gone through life rarely choosing her own truth. In hindsight she can see that her choices were often based on what worked for other people. She focused on pleasing others and fulfilling their needs and desires. Unfortunately, her strategy landed her on an operating table having open-heart surgery; her choices literally left her broken-hearted. She subsequently realized a change was necessary, but found herself completely out of touch with her own desires. Learning the tools of Access Consciousness accelerated her rediscovery. Helen came to know what she wanted – she found her truth in what felt light. Today, she relates, she lives a life focused on what is light and fun, with choices based on what brings her the most ease and joy.
Giving and Receiving
Once Helen learned to help herself, she was able to give back to others. She explains that while most people are typically either givers or receivers, it is important to be able to do both. She cautions those of us who give constantly to also remain open to receiving. It is important to allow others to experience the positive energy of giving.
Giving the Gift of Truth
Many of us play games in our relationships; we present a persona based on who we think the other person desires. When we subconsciously lie about who we are though, we invite turmoil and chaos. Helen asks us to consider what we could create by moving away from lies. If we can let go and be authentic instead, we can offer others the gift of our true selves.
If we’ve been creating based on lies, Helen asks, what could shift if we started creating from truth? If we let ourselves be led by our true desires, what would be possible? Asking these types of questions isn’t so much about finding answers as it is about putting the questions out to the universe. Ultimately, Helen says, we are co-creators with the universe. Ask away, Helen says: What would I like to have in my life right now and what would it take to create it? What else is possible? These questions alone open the doors to infinite possibilities.
